Home > About Us > Community

On and around our farm is an incredible community of people: families, farmers, schools, charities, businesses, community groups, artists and of course our 30 strong Forest Farm team! We are so proud to be part of this community and will never stop working to help it thrive.

We often get asked why we started Forest Farm. The main reason. We felt the connection between farm and fork had been lost. We wanted to reconnect our farm, and the products produced on it, with our local community. This simple idea has grown into a brilliant journey of collaboration and friendship. We now know many of our customers by name, get to hear the clink of reusable milk bottles and see people (and lots of four legged friends) enjoying our gelato garden!

Charity

Community

Our chosen charity is Clan Cancer Support. We, along with many of our staff and customers, have been personally impacted by cancer and are inspired by the work that Clan does.

We were delighted to sponsor an amazing hare sculpture designed by Amy Singer for the Big Hop Trail.

The trail featured 40 hares adorning the open spaces of north-east Scotland. The aim was to not only raise awareness and funds for the charity but also celebrate their 40th anniversary. The sculptures also celebrated the charity’s work supporting those affected by cancer, their family, carers and friends.

Stay tuned for news on the next trail!

Education

Community

We want to help the next generation learn about the importance of farming, nature and entrepreneurship.

We are proud to farm organically and love to show off our cows. You can watch our cows being milked at 3.30pm Monday, Thursday - Sunday.

We also provide free educational tours to schools and community groups during the spring and summer.

Gelato Donations

Community

Since day one we have donated gifts-in-kind to local groups, helping raise money for projects that make life a little sweeter for those in our community.

If you think we’d be a good fit for your fundraiser, event, or group please get in touch, and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Please keep in mind that the majority of our charitable efforts include donating gelato or vouchers for gelato to fundraising events, dinners and other gatherings that involve our communities coming together.

All donation requests should be made at least two weeks in advance. We have a set monthly donation budget, which means we may not be able to fulfil every request.

The Wider Community

Community

The food we eat and drink, and how it is produced, sourced, packaged and disposed of has major consequences for the local and global community.

We strive to be environmentally responsible by following regenerative farming principals, introducing a circular reusable packaging system, investing in renewable energy, reducing waste and sourcing responsibly.

Collaborate with

Forest Farm

We choose to work with local farmers and businesses not only to support the environment and ensure top-tier quality but also to keep money circulating within our community.

Local collaboration has never been more important, and we work with some awesome people.

Whether it is an ingredient for a new flavour of gelato, a pizza collab, an idea for an event or a delicious product you would like us to try in our shop - we would love to hear from you!
